Chicky Cecchetelli Genovese Bookie

Gary interviews former Western Massachusetts Wiseguy David (Chicky) Cecchetelli. He was the biggest bookie in Springfield, Mass. In the early 2000s Genovese associate, Chicky operated a multi-million-dollar sports gambling business. In 2005, he pled out and admitted to taking in over $3,000,000 worth of bets.  The court sentenced him to a year in federal prison.

In the 2000s, Chicky worked for Springfield mob capo Anthony (Bingy) Arillotta. Both men came up in the mob under Springfield crime boss Adolfo (Big Al) Bruno. Anthony Arillotta followed Bruno as a Springfield capo before he turned on the New York-based Genovese bosses. He testified and left the mafia.

One of the interesting subjects we discuss is the fact that the FBI recently served a search warrant on his nephew’s house where Chicky was living. They charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm because they found some bullets and a gun in his bedroom. However, Chicky’s felony was for sports gambling, and that formerly illegal behavior is being legitimatized by state and federal law all over the US.
